EST Predicted Transcripts
EST transcripts are predicted by Ensembl using evidence from ESTs only. The structure of the transcript, and the EST evidence on which the prediction is based, can be seen in a modified Ensembl TransView page.
The transcripts have not been assigned to genes and translations are not presented. However, you may wish to compare these predictions with the Ensembl transcript predictions produced by the current gene build system. Once we are happy with the EST-based method, the results will be combined into the main genebuild in future releases.
DISCLAIMER: These transcripts do not have stable identifiers as they are preliminary work and will not be tracked between releases.
Prediction method
ESTs are mapped on the genome using a combination of Exonerate, Blast and Est_Genome, with a threshold of overall percentage identity of 90 and at least one exon having 97 or higher.
The results are processed by merging the redundant ESTs and setting splice-sites to the most common ends, resulting in alternative spliced forms.
This evidence is processed by Genomewise which finds the longest ORF, and assigns 5' and 3' UTRs.
Supporting Evidence
The supporting evidence at the bottom of the EST TransView page shows the ESTs from which the transcript has been derived. See theTransView help page for more information on how the evidence is presented.
